ANCIENT & PRIMITIVE RITE OF MEMPHIS-MISRAÏM
42nd° DEGREE – prince of light
The 42nd degree of the Ancient and Primitive Rite of Memphis-Misraïm (APRMM), known as the Prince of Light, is a level of Masonic initiation that instills in its members the virtues of purity, unselfishness, and justice towards all humanity. This degree not only expounds upon these principles, but also guides its members on how to embody them in their daily lives.
In the path of the Prince of Light, purity is highly valued, encouraging members to cleanse their hearts and minds of negativity and bias. This cleansing allows them to approach life with a clear, honest perspective, fostering an environment of trust and transparency.
The virtue of unselfishness is paramount in this degree. As a Prince of Light, a Mason is urged to prioritize the needs and welfare of others over their own personal interests. This selflessness strengthens the bonds of brotherhood and community, and drives the Mason’s charitable acts and benevolent deeds.
Being just to humanity is another core teaching of this degree. This involves fair treatment of all people, regardless of their status, race, or beliefs. It encourages Masons to stand up against injustice, promote equality, and foster peace.
In the grand tapestry of Freemasonry, the 42nd degree plays a significant role in shaping Masons into compassionate, fair, and noble individuals. As Princes of Light, they are beacon bearers in society, illuminating the path to righteousness and humanity with the principles they uphold.
