ANCIENT & PRIMITIVE RITE OF MEMPHIS-MISRAÏM
29th° DEGREE – knight of st. andrew
As part of the teachings embedded in the 29th degree of the Ancient and Primitive Rite of Memphis-Misraïm (APRMM) Freemasonry, we are guided towards four key virtues: Devotion to God, loyalty to superiors, steadfastness to our promises, and a proactive stance against unjust judgments.
In the framework of the 29th degree, an overwhelming emphasis is placed on the virtue of God’s Love. Here, a Mason’s spiritual journey is fueled by deep reverence and affection towards the Divine. This devout relationship with God forms the foundation of a Freemason’s moral compass and shapes their spiritual perspectives.
Further enriching the teachings of this degree is the value of Loyalty to superiors. In a broader sense, this loyalty is a testament to respect and honour the authority, not just in Masonic hierarchy but also in all aspects of life. It underscores the importance of trust, respect, and discipline in fostering harmonious relationships within societal and organizational structures.
The 29th degree of the APRMM Freemasonry also encourages a Faithful adherence to promises. This virtue instils a sense of responsibility and integrity among Freemasons, promoting a lifestyle of honesty and reliability. It invites Masons to uphold their commitments and remain true to their word, reinforcing a strong moral framework.
Lastly, the Active resistance to unfair judgment forms a significant virtue in this degree. It inspires Freemasons to stand against injustice and unfairness, promoting equity and fairness. This virtue acts as a call to action for Masons to advocate for justice and actively challenge any form of unjust practices or judgments.
In summary, the 29th degree guides Freemasons towards embracing and living out these four cardinal virtues – Love for God, Loyalty to superiors, Faithfulness to promises, and Active resistance against unfair judgment. By embodying these virtues, a Mason not only refines his personal character but also contributes positively to the society and world around him.
